Synopsis: Giles has landed a job teaching at UC Sunnydale after defeating the Mayor and Buffy ends up, unknowingly, taking Giles' class. Surely all this extra time together won't affect their relationship, right?
“For fuck’s sake!”
Three heads snapped to look at Giles as he cradled the cast to his chest, pacing in circles as he continued to curse under his breath.
“You okay, Giles?” Willow asked as he doubled over.
“I just hit my wrist against the fridge,” he said through gritted teeth as he looked at the three teenagers. “Of course, I’m bloody okay.”
“You don’t have to get snippy, Giles.” Buffy replied as she carried empty bowls into the kitchen, lightly rubbing his back in an effort to calm him.
He just glared at her as he straightened up, running a hand through his hair. There were murmurs from the other two as they settled down to get some much-needed shuteye. Giles rolled his eyes as soon as he realized that they had fallen asleep just like that, causing Buffy to giggle.
“That’s just bloody typical!” he grumbled as he set the few dishes that were used in the sink.
“Hey, what’s up?” she asked, leaning against the counter as she looked at him.
“Nothing,” he sighed, leaning against the counter opposite her. “I’m just fed up with this…fucking cast. I cannot get this blasted thing off fast enough,”
The Slayer laughed as she shook her head, laughing even more when Giles just stared at her. They set about cleaning up the mild mess the four of them had made during the movies, Giles collapsing on to the couch as soon as they were done. Buffy made to sit on the floor, giggling as Giles pulled her down on to the couch and on top of him.
“Why does it bother you that I have one night stands?” he whispered, looking at her as she did her best to get comfortable with him keeping her on top of him.
“It doesn’t bother me,” Buffy sighed, giving him a smile. “It just seemed…unlike you. Kinda like your behavior since graduation.”
“You make it sound like I sleep with a different woman every other night,”
“That’s because it kinda seems like you do, Giles.” Buffy pointed out as she sat up, moving so Giles could sit up as well.
“I don’t though,” he explained as he kept his eyes on her. “On average, it’s about a one night stand every other week. And on the rare occasion, two in the same week.”
“So you’re telling me that you’re not as big of a slut as I thought you were?” Giles shook his head as he tried his best to hold back the chuckle that wanted to escape.
“I suppose that is what I’m telling you,” he finally caved in and chuckled. “I’m also telling you that I don’t go out looking for them.”
Buffy gave him a look that clearly said she did not believe him.
“It’s true. Yes, I go out but that’s to have time for myself.” Giles began, holding back a yawn as he placed his glasses on the coffee table. “When I’m out, I do notice a good looking woman but just because I notice someone does not mean I make it my mission to bring them home with me.”
“So how do they end up leaving with you then?” she asked as she stretched out on the couch.
“I get a few drinks in me,” he shrugged a shoulder as he rested his good hand on Buffy’s leg, smiling shyly when she rolled her eyes. “And most of the time I’m the one who is approached by these women.”
“But you do approach women, right?” the Slayer giggled as she settled into the couch, her eyelids drooping slowly. “So, are you gonna go be a bad host and sleep in your bed again?”
“No, I think I’m going to sleep down here.”
Before Buffy had a chance to ask him where, he stood up and gently pulled her off the couch. Giles held up a hand when she opened her mouth to protest before he lay down on the couch, pulling Buffy on top of him yet again.
“There, sleeping arrangements solved.” He whispered as Buffy got comfortable.
After a few minutes of silence, the living room was filled with four sleeping adults.

Buffy narrowed her eyes as she watched two of Giles’ students talk to him, noticing the obvious flirting the two students were doing. She wasn’t sure what surprised her more- the fact that they would openly flirt with their professor, or the fact that Giles could still control his need to flirt with every woman he saw. She slowly made her to the front of the room when she noticed that the conversation was wrapping up.
“So it is possible for you to not act like a frat boy when a pretty girl passes by,” Buffy smirked as sat on the corner of his desk.
“Ha ha, very funny.” Giles rolled his eyes as he leaned back in his chair. “I don’t flirt with every woman that I see, Buffy.”
“You have for the last five months, Giles.” She replied as she tried to look at what he was writing, frowning when the ex-Watcher glared at her and put the papers away. “You’re no fun.”
“Is there a particular reason you’ve stayed after class, or do you just wish to annoy me?” he smirked.
“Yeah, I was wondering if you would object to hanging out with all of tomorrow night.” Buffy said, cutting Giles before he replied. “It’s for Oz’s birthday, since it’s tomorrow. We’d do it Saturday, but there’s this thing at the Bronze and then Sunday is the start of the full moon. So tomorrow is the only option. Unless you have other plans, or will have other plans. Because if so, that’s cool and we’ll just find something else to do instead of hanging around your place…”
“Buffy, I’m glad that you lot what to spend Oz’s birthday with just our group.” Giles cut off her rambling, smiling at her as a way to reassure the Slayer. “But is this something that Oz wants, or something that you feel the need to put together to make me feel included?”
“It was Oz’s idea. He said he wanted to spend his actual birthday with all of us for a few hours,” Buffy answered as she got to her feet when Giles stood up. “It won’t be too long though cos Xander’s got work, and Willow and Oz probably wanna spend some time together.”
He just cleared his throat and motioned for the blonde to start walking towards the door, starting up another conversation as they made their way towards his office.
“How do you think you’ll do on your mid-terms?” Giles asked as they slowly walked down the hall.
“We’ll find out in a month,” her smile faltered when Giles turned his head to glare at her. “I’m studying, Giles! But we both know that I’m not exactly good when it comes to school,”
“You know I don’t like it when you say things like that, Buffy.” He sighed, turning to face her as he leaned against his office door.
“It’s true, though. I’m surprised I got the scores I did on my SATs,”
“You got those scores because you are that smart, if not smarter.” He places a hand on her shoulder as he gave her a small smile. “You are so much more than you give yourself credit for, Buffy. I just wish you would see what you’re capable of like I do,”
Buffy smiled back at him as she placed a hand on top of the one that was resting on her shoulder, giving it a quick squeeze. She muttered a small “Thank you” just as he turned around to open the door while she began to walk away.
“Buffy?”
“Yeah?” she turned around as soon as he called her name.
“Don’t forget your paper is due on Tuesday,”
The Slayer groaned while Giles chuckled as he walked into his office.

“Are you sure you don’t want me to give you a ride, Buffy?” Oz asked as he closed the passenger side door.
“Thanks, but I’m gonna stay here and help Giles clean up. Actually, I’ll probably be cleaning while Giles gets as much as sleep as he can before he sobers up.” Buffy rolled her eyes as she looked at Oz. “Whose idea was it to drink again?”
“I think Xander’s,” he answered, looking over his shoulder at the sound of Xander, Anya and Willow giggling.
“You’re the one who turned twenty-one today and everyone drank but you,”
“I have tomorrow night,” Oz said as he slowly walked over to the driver’s side of his van. “Sure you don’t want a ride?”
“I’m sure, Oz.” Buffy said as she ran her fingers through her hair. “Happy birthday,”
“Thanks, Buffy.”
She made her way back into Giles’ apartment as Oz drove off to drop off Xander and Anya. A laugh escaped Buffy when she saw the ex-Watcher struggling reach an in his cast, his head snapping up when he heard her. A grin broke out on his face as Buffy walked over to him.
“What’s up, Giles?” she giggled as she leaned against the back of the couch.
“Nothing yet,” he gave her the same smirk he had been giving her all night.
Before Buffy was able to respond, Giles had leant down and pressed his lips to hers. Giles took the opportunity to deepen the kiss when Buffy gasped in surprise, his cast free hand working its way under her shirt. She knew she hadn’t drank enough to blame her participation on, but she was certain Giles didn’t know that little detail. As her legs wrapped around his waist and pulled him closer, she knew she should stop before anything else happened.
“Buffy,” Giles groaned as he ground his hips against hers, kissing down her neck before gently biting her.
She needed to stop, and it needed to be now. Buffy didn’t want to be just another notch in Giles’ bedpost, not with what she felt for him. But the things he was doing to her, the things he was making her feel were just too good to end. And they were both still wearing clothes; she couldn’t even imagine what it would feel like without them.
‘This may be my only chance, though.’ She thought, her hands starting to get his shirt off as fast as they could. ‘And when did we move this party to his bed?’
It was wrong. What she was doing was completely wrong, and if Giles ever found out that she was sober enough to know that this shouldn’t be happening, he would hate her. Which was enough reason for her to put a stop before any more articles of clothing were removed. But the feel of his mouth on her breast was just…
“Oh God,” she moaned, her fingers running through his hair as he slowly kissed his way down her body while he made quick work of her jeans and panties.
Just as he reached her hipbone, Buffy was faintly aware that taking Oz up on his offer for a ride home was probably what she should have done.
