Synopsis: A few truths come to light for the Doctor

The Doctor had always told himself he was a good man, so when Rory had joined Amy aboard the TARDIS on the night of their wedding the Doctor had pulled Amy aside and, sadly, told her that their relationship could no longer be what it use to be. As much as she didn’t like it, Amy knew the Time Lord was right. It wasn’t fair to Rory.

So naturally when they had found out about Amy’s pregnancy, they just figured Rory was the father- and the explanation the Doctor had received at Demon’s Run only further enforced that idea. He would never admit it to Amy, but he couldn’t help but wish that he was the father. Although, he knew that was unlikely considering that they had ended that aspect of their relationship months ago- but then again, they couldn’t exactly be sure when the baby had been conceived.

But watching Mel…River…whoever she was at that moment after her regeneration, joy swelled inside his chest when he recognized her behavior to resemble his. He caught Amy’s eye, and the small smile that shone in her eyes told him what that small voice in his head was currently whispering.

Rory was not the father of Amy’s child.
