3 months later
Giles watched Buffy from across the table, noticing the distinct lack of emotion on her face. With the one year marker since the battle in the crater formally known as Sunnydale quickly approaching, Giles couldn’t help but notice the change in Buffy’s behavior. She was becoming more distant with each passing week, she was finding any reason to argue with him and he kept catching the briefest of glares she would send him. He hadn’t wanted to bring up the subject, but he had honestly thought she would have made some effort to talk about how she was feeling.
“Buffy?” he asked after he had watched her push her food around for long enough.
“Yeah?” she muttered, glancing up at him.
“Why haven’t you said anything about what happened in Sunnydale last year?” he noticed her tense up before she set her fork down and looked up at him.
“What do you mean?”
“Surely you must feel something about the circumstance of my survival,” he explained, not believing he was pushing the very conversation that could very well result in Buffy leaving him.
“Why should I? Angel went to kill you and you walked away by pure luck,” she shrugged, running her fingers through her hair. “That’s all there is to it.”
The Watcher just stared at her, picking up on the angry edge to her tone. He knew he should stop the questioning, but the part of him that was fed up with her avoidance on the subject had taken over.
“Buffy you have to feel something,” Giles insisted, trying to keep his voice as even as possible. “Angel is gone because of me. The fact that I’m the reason the person you’ve been in love with since you were seventeen has to make you feel something!”
“Why are you pushing this subject, Giles? It happened and that’s that. We move on,” she snapped before pushing up from the table and storming out of the kitchen, ignoring her boyfriend as he called after her.
He brought his fist done on the table’s surface when he heard a door slam, sighing at the startled whimper Indiana gave before he huddled close to Giles’ leg. The Watcher looked down on the husky and gave him an apologetic smile.
“I didn’t mean to scare you, Indy.” He muttered as he patted the dog’s head, shaking his head over the fact that he was nowhere near the size of a full grown husky. Although, he supposed that was to be expected since Buffy had picked the runt of the litter. “I suppose I shouldn’t have pushed Buffy into talking. It’s not as if I want to discuss what happened, but she needs to talk about what she has bottled up.”
He looked down to see Indiana cock his head to the side as he looked up, his ears folded down.
“Although, that conversation will more than likely end with me being alone and with no contact with her for the rest of my life.” Giles leaned back in the chair and looked back at the dog, shaking his head. “And hear I am talking to a dog. I guess it’s just good practice for when Buffy does decide to leave,”
Indiana just stared at his owner for a few more seconds before he started barking and chasing his tail. Giles just laughed when Indian licked his hand before tugging on his pant leg, letting him know he wanted to go outside.
“Alright, come on.” Giles chuckled as he stood up and watched the animal run to the back door, chasing his tail as he waited.

“No, I have no idea where she went.” Giles answered as he dropped on to the couch, softly smiling when Indiana pounced on a plastic bottle.
“Have you tried calling her, Rupert?” Emily’s voice sounded from the other end of the phone.
“She left her mobile here,” he sighed as he took off his glasses and pinched the bridge of his nose. “Which is incredibly foolish considering that there are people after me.”
“And everyone knows that Buffy is a perfect way to get to you,” his sister added, bringing small chuckle from Giles. “How long has she been gone?”
The Watcher looked at his wrist, softly groaning at the time.
“Nearly two hours,”
“Rupert, I’m sure Buffy’s fine.” Emily assured him once she heard the worry in his voice.
“I know, it’s just…” he sighed as he leaned his head back on the couch cushions, closing his eyes while he searched his mind for the right words to say.
“You have countless Slayers who want your head on a silver platter, and Buffy’s somewhere on her own without her mobile. So you have no idea if she’s been taken by the rouge Slayers,” Giles couldn’t help but smile as he listened to his sister sum up what he couldn’t find words for. “And the best way to get you is through your Slayer.”
“You know me entirely too well, Em.” He chuckled, kicking the tennis ball Indiana had dropped by his foot. “Why does it sound like you’re alone in your apartment?”
“That would be because Logan and Jess are with Sam for the day,” Giles could hear the hesitance in his sister’s voice when she mentioned her ex-husband.
“I thought he had them last weekend,” he did his best to keep his voice as calm as possible, even though his grip on his phone tightened.
“He did, but I don’t exactly want my kids’ uncle to be arrested for murdering their father.” She explained. “And since you were visiting last weekend, we rescheduled for today.”
“I still stand by what I told you during the divorce,” Giles kicked the tennis ball again when the dog dropped it at his foot once more, smiling when the husky got distracted by the plastic bottle he had been given earlier that day. “If I ever see Sam, I will kill him.”
“Calm down, Ripper.” Emily giggled, knowing her brother was rolling his eyes at her use of his old nickname.
“I will. He signed his death warrant when he broke my baby sister’s heart by fucking his co-worker,” Giles growled.
“Ru…” Emily warned as she heard the anger in his words, sighing when she heard Indiana barking through the phone. “Sounds like Buffy made it back safe and sound.”
“Appears so,” Giles smiled as the blonde walked into the living room, kneeling down to pet Indiana, pushing to his feet and walking towards her. “I’ll call you later, Emily.”
“Have fun, Rupert.” Emily chuckled as she hung up.
“Hey, you.” Buffy said, shock on her face when Giles pulled her to her feet and claimed her mouth in a passionate kiss.
“You left your mobile, and I was worried.” He explained at the curious look she gave him, a shy smile spreading on his face.
“How worried were you?” Buffy smirked, scratching her nails across the back of his neck.
“Enough,” he groaned when she began moving suggestively against him, her free hand slowly unbuttoning his shirt. “Buffy, about early…”
“Giles, I don’t wanna talk about Sunnydale or anything that happened in that time frame.” Buffy whispered as she gently pushed him towards the couch, straddling him when he sat back down. “So many things we can do besides talk about that,”
The Watcher let out a soft groan was she pushed his shirt off, placing a lingering kiss in the middle of his chest. His hands went to her hips as she began moving against his quickly hardening cock, her hands trailing down his chest until she reached his belt buckle. Buffy rolled her eyes when Giles continued to try and bring up Sunnydale and Angel.
“Giles, we can put off this talk for a little bit longer.” She told him before leaning forward and sucking on his earlobe, nibbling on it when he tried to talk to her.
“Buffy…you can’t keep avoiding…” he closed his eyes as the Slayer nibbled along his jaw, working her way down his torso as she tugged his jeans and boxers down. “Christ…”
Buffy grinned inwardly as she took him into her mouth, her lips sliding down his erection when his left hand tangled itself in her hair. Giles tried to focus on the subject that his girlfriend was trying very hard to distract him from, his focus slipping as she tilted her head back enough to allow him to slip into her throat. He admitted defeat when his hips began thrusting upwards of their own accord, his grip tightening in her hair when she increased her suction.
“Come here,” he growled as he pulled her up and covered her mouth with his.
Buffy let out a breathless chuckle as Giles pushed her on to the floor, his eyes darkening as he kicked off his jeans and boxers. He looked at Buffy as he worked on her jeans, smiling when she got his message and began taking off her blouse and bra. Just as he had thrown her jeans and panties over his shoulder, Buffy gripped his shoulder and pulled his body over hers. When she felt Giles begin to kiss down her body, her fingers went to his hair and tugged him up.
“You’ll have plenty of time to return the favor,” she told him when he gave her a confused look, leaning up and engaging him in a carnal kiss. “Right now, I just want you to fuck me.”
Giles just locked eyes with her as he pushed his cock into her, pausing for a second before setting a furious pace. He latched his mouth on to her neck as her nails dug into his sides, his teeth sinking into her skin when she arched her hips to allow him to go deeper. He briefly worried that he was hurting her until he heard the loud moan that left her lips, her nails digging further into his side until he felt the familiar sting of sweat in an open wound.
“Harder,” Buffy groaned as she met him thrust for thrust, moving her hands until she was searching for a good grip on his back. “Fuck!”
He inwardly chuckled as he bite down harder and picked up the pace, placing a slopping kiss on her neck before he pushed himself up until he was kneeling between her thighs. His eyes locked on to her breasts as he continued pounding his cock into her, moving her legs until they were resting on his shoulders. Buffy let out a cry of ecstasy at the change in angel, her hands gripping his forearms as he pushed her closer to orgasm. Giles gave a quick scan of the room and gave a sigh of relief when he noticed Indiana wasn’t in the living room.
“Oh, God…” Buffy moaned, her inner walls starting to tremble against his thrusting cock.
“That’s it, Buffy.” Giles grunted as he leaned forward slightly to change the angel again, grinning at the response it coaxed from her. “Come for me,”
It didn’t take Buffy much longer before she was screaming her release, her nails digging into his forearms. Giles continued to thrust throughout her orgasm, moving so Buffy’s legs were wrapped around his waist as he continued to pump his cock into her.
“Fucking hell…” he groaned as she raked her nails down his back, covering her mouth with his as he felt his orgasm quickly approaching.
He was able to thrust four more times before he called out her name, groaning when her nail dug into back as she came again. Giles fell to the side of her and turned his head to look at her, a lazy grin on his face. Buffy just laughed and rolled her eyes before sitting up and redressing, telling him he could order take out while she showered. He pulled on his boxers and just watched her walk away, his heart sinking as he caught up with what a part of him already knew.
Buffy had just used sex as a way to get out of discussing her feelings.

Date: 2011-09-14 09:20 am (UTC)That being said, I don't think this tactic is going to work forever. I hate it when Buffy acts like this, and Giles shouldn't keep putting up with it.
They'll have to confront these issues between them, eventually.
