Pairing: James/Dawn
Rating: NC-17
Timeline: A year after Chosen
Synopsis: James has a sweet tooth and finds himself with a craving during a get together at his brother's house.
Author's Note: This is for my wifey's birthday (even though it's late, but in all fairness I spent the weekend with her) and is yet another fic that is for our headcanon where James (from Manchild) is Giles' twin brother.
James smirked as he looked at the crowd on the dance floor, his eyes drifting back to a particular brunette that had caught his eye since she walked in with a group of friends. He hadn’t approached her yet, choosing to bide his time with this one. After all, the night was still fairly young and the club had just opened the previous night, which meant that there was always the chance of someone better walking in and catching his attention. Although with the way she was moving, he doubt anyone could take his attention away.
After an hour, a few drinks, and some light flirting, James had lost track of the brunette. While he was mildly upset over the idea that he had more than likely missed out, he took comfort in the fact that there were a few other women who seemed eager enough to leave with him if he asked them. Smoothing the front of his shirt, he made his way to one of his backups and grinned when she noticed him. He felt a sense of pride at the fact that she was already getting ready to leave. Just as he was about to approach her, he caught sight of the brunette from earlier and made a beeline for her when he saw she was at the bar.
“Allow me,” he said as he handed the bartender his credit card, looking over at the brunette. “I can’t help but wonder what a gorgeous woman like yourself is doing here alone.”
“Listen, I’m really not in the mood…” she turned to face him and trailed off, her mouth hanging open in shock. “Giles? Seriously? Oh my God, I can’t believe you’re hitting on me.”
James furrowed his brow and just looked at her. “What?”
“Clearly you didn’t realize it was me, unless you’ve been hiding some really weird fantasies about me. In that case, can I just say ew? Does Buffy know you hit on young women?”
“I’m…I’m sorry. I think you have me confused with someone else.” James said, feeling slightly embarrassed for her.
“As if! I’ve known you for eight years, I’m pretty sure it’d be hard to confuse you with someone else.” The brunette sighed and accepted her drink before looking back at James. “Look, I won’t tell Buffy. I don’t wanna cause any more issues between you two and I know she’d wig if she knew you had a thing for women young enough to be your daughter.”
He continued to stand there and listen to her, feeling more confused by the second until he heard something that caught his attention.
“I’m sorry, did you say Slayer?”
“Yeah, Buffy’s your Slayer. Why are you still pretending you don’t know me…” it was her turn to trail off as her eyes widened in realization. “Unless you’re not Giles, which I’m guessing your not because you seem to have a better fashion sense than him. Oh boy. I’m sorry, you just really look like someone I know and can you forget this conversation ever happened?”
James looked at her before smiling slightly and holding out his hand. “I’m James. And I’m relatively sure I know who you thought I was,”
“You do?”
“Did you think I was someone named Rupert Giles?” when she nodded, he let out a small bark of laughter. “I’m not surprised you got us confused. He’s my twin brother and I’m assuming you’re one of the people he met when he was assigned a Slayer?”
He opened his mouth to continue at her nod, but stopped when she held up her hand. “Wait, Giles has a twin? Why hasn’t he ever said anything about it before?”
“Rupert and I aren’t exactly on speaking terms,” James explained, running his fingers through his hair. “Although I’m currently working to fix that now that he’s back. But now isn’t exactly the place to talk about any of that.”
“Why not?”
“Well, for starters I don’t know your name.”
She looked at him as if she was trying to decide if she could trust him or not. “I’m Dawn, and don’t think you can try anything on me because my sister’s the Slayer. And she’d kick your ass,”
James just smiled and motioned for her to follow him back to an empty table.

They sat at the table for a few hours as they talked and had a few drinks, slowly getting to know each other. James also used the time to subtly get to know what his brother had been up to over the years- which he had learned was quite a lot when he wasn't nearly getting killed. Nearly two hours after they had started talking, Dawn stated she should be heading back before her friends started worrying.
“Let me walk you home,” he said as he stood up.
“Yeah right,” she scoffed as they walked out of the building together. “And then you’ll end up staying for a drink or two and try to seduce me. I’ve been too enough clubs to know your type.”
James just smiled as he listened to her talk.
“What are you smiling about?” Dawn asked, stopping to look at him.
“Nothing,” he shook his head and turned to face her. “Just…I’ve heard that before. And it generally never holds through,”
“And why’s that?”
“Because I’m charming.”
With a wink, he began walking again and looked over his shoulder at her. It wasn’t until she heard her name that Dawn caught back up with, falling into step beside him. It had taken them a good twenty minutes to reach the hotel she was staying at.
“So, where exactly are you from?” James asked as he lit a cigarette.
“I moved to Rome a little over a year ago once the Hellmouth closed.” Dawn explained, yanking his cigarette from him and taking a drag. “I’m only here because a few friends of mine were making the trip. Plus, Buffy had to see Giles for some business and we haven’t seen him in a few months.”
“And the business your sister needed to discuss with him?” he took back his cigarette.
“I don’t know. She needed to talk to him,” Dawn shrugged as she leaned against the wall and looked at him. “Does it matter?”
“Not particularly. I was just making conversation.”
“I’d ask you to come in for a drink, but I’m pretty sure you’ll try and sleep with me.”
“Would that be a bad thing?” he flicked his finished cigarette to the ground and looked at her.
Dawn just smirked and made her way into the hotel, giving him a brief goodnight. James smiled and shook his head before turning and making his way back to his flat.

It was a few months until James saw Dawn again. He had been invited to a small get together at his brother's house, and was fairly shocked that Rupert had invited him. Even though they had been speaking for nearly a year, he didn't think enough had been done to land him any sort of invitation from his brother. And yet, there he was standing in his brother's backyard as he watched the small group of friends interact.
“I’m starting to think that you’re not as social as Giles says you are,”
He turned around to see Dawn approaching him, a small smile coming to his face. She smiled back as leaned against the porch railing next to him.
“Rupert talks about me?” James asked.
“Sort of. I asked about you the day after we met,” she explained as she watched her sister catch up with everyone. “He talks more about you the more you and him work out your issues.”
“I’m sure he’s made me out to be a right bastard.” He grinned.
“Nah. He assures us that you have some redeeming qualities,”
They stood in silence as they watched the other four people talk. James narrowed his eyes as he watched the Slayer and his brother interact, tilting his head to the side slightly.
“What’s the deal with your sister and my brother?”
“Nothing,”
“Are you sure about that?” James looked at Dawn before looking back over at the two just in time to see Rupert lean over and whisper something in Buffy’s ear.
He let out a little chuckle as he watched Dawn’s mouth drop open as she watched them. After a moment, she turned back to look at James and just rolled her eyes at the cocky smirk on his face. He chuckled as she walked off to go join the others, leaving him to his people watching. That particular activity lasted another five minutes before Rupert called him over to properly introduce him to his friends.
By the time the introductions had been made, James had the feeling that the three young adults didn’t exactly have the greatest opinion about him. Then again, hitting on Buffy and Willow probably hadn’t helped any. He saw the eye roll the red head had given him when he joked about having the ability to make her go back to men, the joke quickly dying at the protectiveness Xander had shown. But any flirting he had planned to do was stopped as soon as he turned his attentions to Buffy. James gave Dawn a quick knowing smirk at Rupert’s reaction.
Despite the rocky introductions, James seemed well tolerated by the group. He had even accomplished in making them laugh and take a genuine interest in some of what he had to say, not to mention he was able to embarrass his brother with stories of them growing up. It got to the point where Rupert had banned all talk of their childhood. Of course that only applied to James since Rupert took the opportunity to embarrass James just as much.
“I’m going to go get a drink,” James muttered once his brother began telling everyone about the time their father had caught James seducing their neighbor’s wife when he was seventeen.
Once he had gotten into the kitchen, he had taken the chance to snoop around for something to eat. He was far too impatient to wait for dinner to eat. Although that was completely his fault; he had decided to stay up most of the night with a one night stand and then sleep until he had an hour to be at Rupert’s house. James had just found Rupert’s stash of chocolate when the backdoor opened.
“Do you have a sweet tooth as bad as Giles’?” Dawn laughed as she watched James scramble to hide the chocolate bar behind his back.
Depends on the sweet,” he smirked, scowling when she walked over and took the chocolate from his hand. “I was going to eat that.”
“I know, but Giles kinda knows exactly how many he has in his stash.” She explained as she put it back in the cabinet, smiling sweetly at James before walking out of the kitchen. “Besides, don’t want all that chocolate to ruin your body.”
James narrowed his eyes and followed her.
“What exactly does that mean?”
“You seem like you have a nice body,” Dawn answered as she turned around to face him. “It’d be a shame to see it ruin because of your sweet tooth.”
“My sweet tooth goes beyond chocolate and sugar, thank you very much.” He pointed out, smirking slightly when he saw her eyes roaming his body. “See something you like, luv?”
“Maybe.” She shrugged and walked into the bathroom, looking over her shoulder at him and sending him a wink. “I’m pretty sure you see something you like though,”
James smiled and followed her into the bathroom, chuckling as Dawn reached pass him to close the door and lock it. She moved to lean against the sink and stared at him, smiling.
“I thought you didn’t invite strange men you met at clubs into your house,” he teased as he walked over to her.
“I don’t live here, and Giles’ invited you.” Dawn answered as her fingers toyed with a button on his shirt. “Plus, you’re not really all that strange. You’re the brother of the man who’s been my father-figure since I was ten.”
“Well, just because we’re in my brother’s house doesn’t mean I won’t try and seduce you.” He muttered as he placed his hands on her waist.
“What makes you think I don’t want that?”
Before James could even answer, Dawn leaned up and kissed him. He responded without even thinking and pulled her closer to him, deepening the kiss when he felt her toy with the hair at the nape of his neck. A groan sounded in his throat when she began moving against him, letting him know she was well aware of the bulge in his trousers.
“You know, I’ve been wondering if you’re as good as you think you are.” She whispered as she began working on undoing his trousers.
“What makes you think I think I’m good?” he nipped down her neck before sucking on her pulse point.
“Your body…language…” she let out a soft moan, her hand diving into his trousers and wrapping around his erection. “Look what I found,”
James hissed in pleasure as she began stroking him. He kissed her hard as he worked on her jeans. They spent several minutes teasing each other until he finally pulled away from her.
“Turn around and bend over the sink, luv.” He instructed as he grabbed his wallet from his back pocket.
Dawn did as she was told, looking over her shoulder at him. She licked her lips as she watched him pulled down his trousers and boxers enough to free his erection and roll the condom on. James smirked when he saw where her focus was. He yanked down her jeans and panties, positioning his erection at her entrance. She bit her lip to keep from moaning as he entered her, his hands gripping her hips as he began moving.
No words were spoken as they both focused on keeping quiet in case someone walked by. James bent forward and gently bit her neck, inwardly smirking as she slipped and let out a groan. He sped up until his hips were slamming against hers, groaning against her neck as she pushed back against him.
“Oh God,” Dawn panted as she gripped the side of the sink hard enough to turn her knuckles white. “James…”
He doubled his efforts and slid a hand down her stomach until his fingers teased her clit. They lasted a few more minutes before Dawn’s hand shot up to cover her mouth as she came, bringing James over quickly after. He leaned his forehead against her shoulder blade as he fought to catch his breath, smiling when he heard her mumbled about her legs being jelly-like.
“That’s how you know you’ve just been thoroughly fucked,” he said as he pulled out, quickly taking care of the condom.
Once he had his clothes back in order, he bent down and pulled up her panties and jeans. He kissed her shoulder as he refastened her jeans.
“Such a gentleman,” Dawn smiled as she turned around. “I would spend a little more time to talk to you right now, but I think the others would notice if we were missing.”
“I think you’re right,” he agreed, his hand reaching out and pushing a strand of hair behind her ear.
He raised an eyebrow when she reached into his pocket and took out his mobile phone, typing in something. When she handed him his phone back, he couldn’t help but smile as he saw her name in his contacts.
“I’d like to see you again, and any time I’m in London.” She explained as she turned back around and washed her hands, fixing her hair. “So you should text me so I have your number,”
“I’ll make sure to do that.” He grinned, his eyes travelling down her body.
“And don’t be afraid to call or text me when I go back to Rome,” she kissed him quickly and winked before quickly leaving the bathroom.
James stared at the closed door before looking back down at his phone. Normally he wouldn’t really care if he saw her again, but there was just something about Dawn that attracted him. And if she was completely fine with casual sex, then he was definitely going to make sure she had his number. After all, it was always nice knowing he had someone to turn to for sex whenever he needed it.
He quickly washed his hands and left the bathroom, heading towards his brother’s chocolate stash. He still had to fix his other sweet tooth.
