Synopsis: Giles has landed a job teaching at UC Sunnydale after defeating the Mayor and Buffy ends up, unknowingly, taking Giles' class. Surely all this extra time together won't affect their relationship, right?
“Morning, Buffy.” He greeted as he popped a grape into his mouth, grinning at the shock look on Buffy’s face as she sat across from him.
“How did you know it was me?” she asked, stealing an apple slice form his plate. “Your back was facing me,”
“The same way you knew I was outside,” was all he said.
“Could you vague that up for me, Giles? I don’t think it was cryptic enough,”
The Slayer rolled her eyes when the ex-Watcher grinned at her as he continued to eat the fruit he was having for breakfast. She giggled when her eyes drifted to his cast and the goofy stick figure drawing of the Gang Willow and Xander had drawn last night, much to Giles’ annoyance. At the thought of the night before, her hazel eyes went straight to his temple and she winced. It looked slightly swollen and was nastily bruised; making her question the job she had done stitching up the gash. Giles gave her a small smile when he saw the concern on her face.
“I’m fine, Buffy.” He assured her. “Apart from the bruise, all I have is an awful headache.”
“Giles…”
“How did you sleep?” he cut her off, not wanting her mind to go where he knew it was going to go.
“Good,” she gave him a knowing look before shaking her head. “Where did you sleep? I had the couch, Willow had the chair and Xander was on the floor, and I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t sleep on the floor.”
“I would under the right circumstances,” he smirked before quickly chewing an apple slice.
Buffy just gawked at him, trying to wrap her mind around the fact that Giles has made a sex joke- of sorts.
“I slept in my bed,” his voice brought her out of her thoughts.
“Wait, you slept in your big and comfy bed while your guest slept in uncomfortable positions in even more uncomfortable places? You could have been a good host and offered your bed to Will and me!” she grumbled as she pulled the plate closer to her.
“I could have, but you lot fell asleep before me and I wasn’t going to wake any of you up when you seemed so peaceful.” Giles leaned back in his chair and just chuckled at the look on her face. “Besides, you’re over here enough for me to stop considering any of you a bloody guest.”
“You’re supposed to be a gentleman and all self-sacrificing!”
Buffy threw the last apple slice when he rolled his eyes, laughing when it hit him on his nose. She continued to throw fruit at him whenever he made a face at her continuous mentioning of his being a bad host, both of them laughing when he started trying to catch grapes in his mouth. She was down to the last few pieces of fruit when a groggy Willow and a confused looking Xander walked outside.
“What’s up, Buff?” Xander yawned, messing up his sleep tousled hair even more.
“I’m just getting after Giles for sleeping in his bed while we slept downstairs,” Buffy glared at the giggling older man across from her.
“I thought it was against your rules to be rude to us, G-Man.” Xander ruffled Giles’ hair as Willow rolled her eyes on her way to sit by her best friend. “Our stuffy Watcher is growing up so fast!”
All giggling from Giles stopped as he glared at the young man, which caused the other three to giggle.

As soon as Buffy walked out of the classroom, her arm was nearly pulled off by an excited looking Wiccan. She couldn’t help but laugh as Willow dragged her as far away from Giles’ classroom and office before she turned around and gave the blonde a look. The Slayer waited for her friend to say something, and it was becoming clear that Willow was expecting her to just know.
“I’m not psychic, Will.” She laughed, leaning against the wall as she stared at her best friend.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” the red head said, her eyes wide with curiosity.
“I told you that Giles was my professor,” Buffy said slowly, narrowing her eyes in worry.
“Not that!” she cut off whatever Buffy was going to say next. “Why didn’t you tell me about you and Giles?”
“What are you talking about, Willow?”
“You and Giles, why didn’t you tell me the two of you have a thing?” a slightly hurt expression crossed her face at the thought of being kept in the dark.
“There’s nothing going on with me and Giles,” Buffy assured her, not sure where this had come from. “Unless something happened while I wasn’t paying attention?”
“I saw you guys being all flirty just a minute ago!”
“Will, I don’t know if you’ve noticed but Giles is Flirty Guy now.” Buffy pointed out, running a hand through her hair.
“He flirts with lots of people, it doesn’t mean anything.”
“But you were flirting back,” Willow stated, turning her head to the side in thought. “And I’ve noticed the looks you give him when no one’s looking.”
“I promise you, there is nothing going on between me and Giles.”
As Buffy started to walk away, Willow stood in front of her and forced her to stop. They stood in silence as the red haired Wiccan studied her best friend for a few minutes before her jaw dropped open in shock.
“You have a thing for Giles!”
“I do not!” the Slayer countered, glaring at Willow.
“Resolve face. Tell me.”
The blonde groaned before looking around to make sure no one she knew was near by, turning to look back at her friend. All Buffy did was give a small nod before pushing past Willow and walking towards the door.
“Oh my God!” Willow gushed as she followed her friend outside, a grin on her face. “Buffy, that’s…that’s great! I mean, it makes sense in a way and everything. Are you gonna tell him?”
“No,” she scoffed, shuddering at Giles’ reaction her mind created. “Nothing’ll happen.”
“So you’re just gonna have a thing for him and not do anything about it? Trust me, Buff, it’s harder than it seems.”
“Right, you would know.” They both burst into a fit of giggles. “C’mon, I’m feeling a best friends’ night with lots of ice cream and chocolate.”
Willow just nodded her head and they both made their way to their dorm.

“So, this Giles crush…” Willow wiggled her eyebrows as she looked up from her bag of cookie.
“Willow…” Buffy glared as she took a bite from the chocolate bar she had bought. “Don’t even.”
“How long have you had it and exactly what is it?”
Clearly, Willow was deciding to not pick up on hints suddenly. Buffy opened her mouth to tell the red head to drop it, but stopped when she saw the “Resolve Face”.
“We really need to set up boundaries for when you can and can’t use that face, it’s unfair.” She grumbled, leaning her head against the wall.
“And like you pouting to get your way with Giles is fair?” Willow didn’t even give Buffy a chance to respond to that before continuing. “Tell me now, Buffy. I’m your best friend, and that’s what I’m here for.”
“Fine,” she sighed as she sat back up, her eyes focused on the floor. “Since some time after Christmas, and it’s not just a crush like I thought at first. It’s more like I wanna get all relationship-y with him,”
When the silence started to get to her, Buffy looked up and sighed when she saw a smile on her friend’s face. After another moment, both started laughing and launched into a different conversation.
“Did you notice Riley checking you out today during class?” Willow
“The T.A.?” when Willow nodded, the Slayer just rolled her eyes. “He seems too…I dunno, but it’s not for me.”
Willow just laughed before starting another conversation, both steering clear from boys for the night.

“I know I’m early, but I can only study for so long.” Buffy called out as she walked into Giles’ apartment, making sure the door had closed behind her. “And I figured since Willow and Oz are in class, Xander’s at work and I really don’t wanna hang out with Anya alone that I would just hang out with you before lunch.”
She raised an eyebrow when she noticed the lack of a slightly annoyed looking ex-Watcher, listening very carefully to see if he was just upstairs. When she heard the sound of the shower running, she smiled and decided to make herself at home until Giles made an appearance. Buffy had just poured herself a glass of orange juice when she heard the shower shut off, Giles appearing a few minutes later in nothing but a pair of jeans.
“Hey, Giles.” The Slayer waved as she took a sip of her orange juice.
“Jesus! Why are you here early?” he asked, his face reddening at his state of dress in front of her.
“If you had been out here, you would’ve heard me the first time.” She giggled as she made her way towards the couch when he made his way to the kitchen, stopping halfway there when something caught her eye. “Ummmm, Giles? Is there someone else here?”
“No, why?” he turned back around to face her, his head tilted in confusion until Buffy made a gesture towards his back. “Oh…um…no. She left about an hour ago,”
“I didn’t think you had a girlfriend,” she continued walking to the couch, sitting so she could still see Giles.
“I don’t,” he muttered as he grabbed an apple, ducking his head at the look she gave him.
“So you had a one night stand? That’s…new.” She took another sip of her orange juice as she glanced over at him.
“This is hardly the first one night stand I’ve had, Buffy.” He finished the apple, throwing the core away before walking out of the kitchen.
“Really?” she could tell by his tone that this was a regular occurrence for him, which disturbed her more than she wanted to admit.
“It’s very easy for me to get a one night stand,” he ran a hand through his still wet hair before motioning up to the loft. “Let me go finish getting dressed, and then we can go get lunch.”
“I’ll be right here,” she finished what was left in the glass.
“Back in a moment,”
Buffy watched as Giles made his way up to the loft, and shook her head. Things could never be easy for her when it came to her love life, or her potential for one.
